‘Weird green is having a moment’: 45 spring fashion picks under $200

‘Weird green is having a moment’: 45 spring fashion picks under $200

The sun has emerged. Warmth and longer days are beckoning. But peering inside your closet, you might find yourself at a loss.

“Seasonal changes often create a sense of urgency to reinvent ourselves. After a long winter, there’s a natural desire to shed heavy, worn-in layers and step into something new,” said Georgia Milton, a personal stylist.

Rather than scroll for hours in search of spring outfit inspiration, we asked 15 stylists for their best advice. They’ve dressed everyone from celebrities including Ashley Graham to professional athletes and female executives. They, and other Guardian experts, have shared 45 top buys to revamp your spring style for under $200. We also have a few higher-range recommendations at the end.

“Where people tend to get stuck is panic-buying whatever feels trendy, thinking it will magically transform them into a new version of themselves,” Milton added.

By contrast, the items we’re highlighting are not random or impulsive; there’s a styling tip or guideline behind every piece, including adding personality to your look with chunky bracelets and investing in wardrobe staples such as a linen pant or timeless white tee. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try swapping a classic denim jacket for a funkier silhouette or rocking a brooch made of feathers.

One of the easiest ways to transition your wardrobe is by layering a lightweight cashmere tee under a blazer, bomber jacket, or raincoat. It gives you warmth without bulk, and it can instantly elevate your look. I recommend brands including Quince for accessible, high-quality cashmere basics. Their cashmere tee is a great everyday option. Elisa Ellis, wardrobe stylist who helps professionals dress for work

These comfy sandals were recommended by Danielle Renwick, the Guardian US director of partnerships, in our roundup of the best women’s shoes for the office. “The extra coverage compared with my strappier sandals makes them a good transitional shoe during the warm days of spring and autumn when my unpedicured feet long to breathe,” she wrote.

This spring, you’ll see a lot of denim jackets, but not the traditional style we’ve worn for decades. The new denim jacket has interesting details including puffed sleeves, a balloon hem or a funnel neckline. This Gap denim bomber incorporates many of the latest trends in denim jackets while being just as versatile as your classic denim one.
